Wayne Jordan, editor-in-chief, at Romance In Color (and fellow Kimani author) was kind enough to email this review to me last night. Needless to say, it made my day!
ROMANCE IN COLOR
(4++) Ashley Haney

Tangela Howard grew up with a drug addicted mother and absentee father until the age of nine when she was placed into the foster care system with a foster mother who wasn’t any better than her biological mother.  She learned at an early age to depend on herself.  Tangela fell in love with Warrick the day they met nine years ago but ran out on him two years ago after realizing he wasn’t going to set a wedding date.

Now she’s back with a new look and a new view on life.  She’s ready to get a promotion, find a husband and have some kids.  There’s only one problem with her plan…she’s still in love with Warrick.  Warrick Carver has spent the past two years going through the motions but not really living.  He’s been named interim president of his father’s architecture firm and loves being in charge.  His love life has taken a non-existent backseat.  When he realizes that Tangela is back in town, he soon realizes that he’s never gotten over her, and he never will.  Tangela and Warrrick must open the lines of communication if they are to ever have a chance at love and true happiness.

Pamela Yaye tells a story of destiny in LOVE ON THE ROCKS.  Tangela Howard is used to running from her problems and never looking back.  Warrick Carver is accustomed to seeing things through to the end.  It’s amazing how two people, who, to others, seem so wrong for each other, are so perfect for each other.  Pamela Yaye uses her unflappable ability as a writer to tell a story through Tangela and Warrick and to encourage readers to never give up on the one you love.

The main story takes place in Las Vegas, but a trip to New Orleans helps get Tangela and Warrick back on track.  The dialogue is witty and realistic and keeps the reader interested in the story.  The supporting characters provide humor while giving Warrick and Tangela their advice and opinions.

Pamela Yaye has another hit on her hands.  She also allows us to revisit Sage and Marshall from GAMES OF THE HEART.  I think Tangela and Warrick’s story is a perfect example of how important communication and compromise are in any relationship.  I absolutely loved this novel.

5 stars
Tangela Howard fell in love with Warrick Carver and they were a couple for seven years. She wanted marriage but he kept putting it off. She left him feeling like they had no future together. She takes another job as a flight attendent with another airline and moves to Mexico. She returns 2 years later a few pounds lighter and with a different attitude. Warrick has never stopped loving her but business always came first with him. After seeing her he knows that he still loves her and vows to win her back. They hit a few setbacks because both are still afraid of being hurt again and find that they need to be more open to one another which was something they didn’t do in the past. Love prevails in the end. Great story!
